This year more than most feels like a fresh start. It is the first year of the rest of my life. I have complete freedom and flexibility so no doubt that means that I will completely fail to organize my time and my travels efficiently.
Choose the life I want
I have already taken the bigs steps towards making that happen but I would like to more intentional rather than just going with the flow and seeing what happens.
Make a travel plan
Now I have the time and the flexibility I can sit down and work out my first priorities and hopefully come up with a workable travel plan. I may also have to learn to say no so that I don’t keep putting time and commitment obstacles in my way.
Cook more
I have already started with this. Having headspace and being less exhausted from work makes me a lot more enthusiastic in the kitchen. I’m not going to have the budget to eat out as much so it’s time to make new and exciting dishes at home.
Create routine
Even when traveling I like some structure. But this is mostly going to be about good habits, like eating well, sleeping properly, spending time in the sunshine and, of course, documenting my travels.
Stick to the budget
Quitting my job has caused a significant drop in my disposable income and given me much more time when I can spend money. So I need to behave myself and keep an eye on my goal of continuing to fund travel.
Don’t lose touch
I am pretty good at maintaining friendships but I need to make a special effort now that I’m going to be away from people much more. At the very least I need to give people the chance to live vicariously by sharing my travels.
Practice yoga
This one almost always crops up in my intentions. I haven’t brought a yoga mat on my current trip in the interest of traveling light but once I get home I will try. Yoga makes me feel good and really helps me sleep well so it should be a priority.
Have fun!
Because that’s the whole point.
