Packing list
I like to travel light (carry-on only) so as much as possible I travel with multi-function items. All the clothes I pack can be worn together which gives me a good choice of outfits from relatively few items. Sometimes I add trousers, hiking boots, socks, rain gear, cold weather gear, etc., it all depends on the destination.
My basic list:
Clothes
5 x T-shirts (one can be worn for sleeping)
2 x reversible skirts
1 x shorts (can be worn for sleeping)
1 x dress
7 x underwear
2 x bra
1 x swimsuit
1 x shoes (suitable for lots of walking)
1 x sandals (vaguely dressy)
1 x sunhat
1 x pashmina (used as clothing/towel/headscarf/sunshade…)
As most countries now enforce the limitation on liquids to be taken on board aircraft, I see it as a challenge to fit within these limits so my one-liter bag for liquids contains small containers of the following:
Contact lens fluid + spare contact lenses
Sunscreen
Toothpaste
Moisturizer
Hair serum
By using solid versions of other toiletries, I don’t have to include them in my liquids bag (although I’ve discovered that even stick deodorant counts as a liquid in the UK).
Toiletries
Stick deodorant
Solid shampoo
Soap
Solid lip balm
Cosmetic wipes
Toothbrush
Cotton sticks
Nail clippers
Razor
Tissues
Toilet paper
Medical
Plasters
Painkillers
Antihistamines
Diarrhea medication
Random stuff
Ear plugs
Eye mask
Travel pillow
Travel towel (depending on destination, otherwise the pashmina will do)
Phone = camera
Chargers and adapter plug
Headphones + music
Notebook
Pen
Pencil
Collapsible water bottle
Spork
Duct tape
Padlock
Rubber bands
Safety pins
Tiny sewing kit
Tape measure
Ziploc bags
And, last but not least, the things that I really need.
Essentials
Passport + visas
Travel and health insurance
Vaccination card
Tickets (rare nowadays, although I sometimes print out confirmations to be on the safe side)
Money
Spectacles
Sunglasses
Teddy bear
I use packing cubes to keep stuff organized and the essentials are usually in my personal item (apart from the bear, he keeps an eye on the contents of my carry-on).
