I had brunch with a friend today and she gently chastised me for not posting anything on my blog recently. I explained that as I’ve mostly been catching up with friends, I didn’t think that “I had lunch with x” or “I saw a movie with y” was the kind of scintillating story that people wanted to read.
Her response? “Ooh, what film did you see?”
So maybe I’m wrong and she has a point. Maybe people are interested in what I’m doing, even if I think it is mundane. I know my life isn’t other people’s normal. For example, so far in 2017 I haven’t spent more than 15 days in one place. And it doesn’t look like that is going to change any day soon. I’ve got my travel mojo back and wanderlust is biting like a…word I probably shouldn’t say in polite company.
So I’m spending my quiet Sunday travel planning and booking tickets but also sorting some things out for the blog. I might not be able to take everyone round the world with me but I can bring a little bit of the world to them.
(And the film? Hidden Figures. Loved it. It’s amazing. I laughed and cried and marveled at the ways the world has changed. But also the ways it hasn’t. It was great to see a film about strong, feisty women.)
Totally agree about sharing the everyday things! More blogging is better! Hidden figures is on my list.
