Insomnia is my friend tonight so I’m lying in bed, blasting country music (through headphones cos I’m considerate) and re-reading my old blog posts – so many good memories. Spoke to a friend today who was requesting new blog posts so this is my first attempt.
It’s four-and-a-half years since I returned to the restrictions of having a job which means I have a lot more money and a lot less time. However, after the pandemic-induced recess, I am now making a good attempt at traveling (to the extent that I’ve already used pretty much all my vacation days for 2023).
I can’t even pick the best thing I’ve done so far this year? Hawaii? Glacier Express trip? Sub-Radio in concert? Wimbledon? The food in Mallorca? Catching up with a friend on two different continents? My life is awesome!
I have lots of plans for the rest of the year, carefully structured round weekends – the wedding of the year, more concerts, more tennis, work travel (I guess there are some advantages to having a job), a two-day trip to the US (I know, I’m crazy!) – all heading towards the epic trip I have planned to start 2024.
The best thing about the last year has been babies. Two fabulous little people that I am enjoying getting to know. Spending time with their parents isn’t a hardship either. First birthdays are coming up and I can’t believe how quickly the time has passed.
It hasn’t been the easiest travel year. Lots of canceled and rescheduled flights, delays and disruptions that cost me time and money. But my brain continues to focus on the good things and I keep booking ridiculous trips. It makes me so happy to have a full calendar and there always being something to look forward to.
The sky is starting to get light so I guess it’s time to decide whether to try to get some more sleep or just get a very early start to the day. But here you go, some words and some pictures to prove (a) I’m still alive and (b) I’m having fun.
