It’s now 10 days into my trip and I realize that I’ve been very quiet. Sorry about that! Too much running around and patchy wifi has meant that I haven’t had much time to catch up. Not to fear though, I am alive, well and having so much fun.
Today is the first day when the sun hasn’t shone brightly but now that it has stopped raining I suspect that it may be another scorcher. I’ve added to my (already substantial) collection of freckles, got a little sunburnt and bitten a lot. I wore plenty of bug spray but still the mosquitos loved me.
I only have time for a brief recap now but I promise that details will follow later, if you’re interested. The adventure started in Miami where I visited and loved South Beach – sun, sea, sand and Art Deco architecture. After Miami, I headed down to Key Largo, did some hiking (where I met the mosquitos) and went out to the coral reef – lots of pretty fishes!
I have seen alligators in the Everglades, sharks in the ocean and jellyfish on the beach (oddly enough I decided not to go swimming that day). Overall though the highlight has been the food, from the best guacamole I’ve ever tasted to the Mahi Mahi, as well as fresh stone crab and seriously the best cocktails. I’m still dreaming about the Key Lime Martini.
Right now I am heading to Ft Lauderdale to begin the next part of the adventure. This is going to be totally out of my comfort zone so I’m interested to see how it turns out. Some people know where I’m headed but, if you don’t, be warned that I’ll be pretty much offline for the next seven days. Hopefully there will be more sunshine, beaches and delicious food. Although now it’s raining again…
So good to read of your adventures … already looking forward to the next instalment. Stay safe and enjoy!
