This year is an important one for me and I need to pick my intentions carefully.
Choose the life I want
It’s time to take risks and be reckless. Life is short so I need to make sure that I’m living it to the full. No more playing it safe and behaving myself.
Make a travel plan
Work out my long-term travel goals and what I need to do to achieve them. We know I love to plan so this should be achievable but I have spent the last few years leaping from one shiny thing to the next without even having a big picture nevermind actually looking at one!
Cook more
The combination of travelling a lot and tiring work days meant that last year I didn’t always have the time, energy or ingredients available to cook. I want to do better this year.
Create routine
Not boring monotony but more a sense of consistency. I need to make it easier to have good habits, such as eating well, sleeping properly, yoga, exercise, all the good stuff.
Focus on what’s important
The people I love. Spend time with them, have fun. Time spent in good company is never wasted. I’m lucky to have amazing people in my life and they deserve to be cherished.
Count my blessings
I saw a lot of comments and memes about how to survive 2025. And they didn’t resonate with me. I love my life and I need to be grateful for the opportunities I have. There are going to be difficult parts to 2025 as it’s going to be a demanding year but there are also exciting possibilities.
In short, I’m going to live in accordance with country music lyrics (with references changed as appropriate):
“Call your mama, see the world
Get the tattoo, kiss the girl
Count your blessings, thank your stars
Learn your lesson, earn your scars
Life’s a sunset from the porch
As beautiful as it is short
So drink it up, but make it last, son
‘Cause every beer could be your last one”
