2015 turned out to be a strange year for me. Deciding to bring forward my travel plans meant uprooting myself from my friends and from my everyday life much sooner than I expected. Various factors meant that my initial itinerary was not particularly structured nor very efficient but, as I sit here waiting for 2016 to arrive, I see a whole year stretching out in front of me and the world really is my proverbial oyster.
Any twelve-month period could be considered a year but January 1 is so symbolic. Normally by now I would have my entire year planned to make best use of my vacation time. Now I have all the time in the world and nothing really planned after March. Other than a few fixed points for weddings and family things, I am free to go wherever, whenever. It’s an incredible feeling,
I haven’t been very productive on the blogging front so far but as my commitments fall away hopefully that will improve. This is New Year’s resolution number 1.
Number 2 is simply to travel, to see what opportunities life offers and to seize as many as possible. We have just one life to do whatever it is we want to do and for me that has always been travel. I can’t know what the future holds but I do have a passport and right now I’m taking the opportunity to follow my dreams.
Wishing you all the best for 2016 – let’s make it an amazing year.
Go get ’em! And keep the entries + photos coming. Need vicarious travel experiences …
